Governing Body
Governors are an important part of the management of the school, working in partnership with the Head Teacher and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The overall purpose of the Governing Body is to help Park Mead Primary School provide the best possible education for its pupils, in order to develop every child's full potential. This involves in particular:
-
Setting the school's vision and strategic aims, agreeing targets, plans and policies and making optimum use of resources.
-
Monitoring and evaluating performance and acting as a critical friend to the Head Teacher, in order to support and challenge in the development of the school
-
Ensuring that statutory responsibilities are met, and that the school is accountable to the children and parents it serves, the local community and the staff it employs.
Good governance makes an impact in the classroom and we aim to contribute to high standards of attainment, together with good quality teaching and pupil behaviour.
There are two primary committees that meet twice per term:
- Children and Learning
- Resources
In addition there is a Pay Committee and a Headteachers Appraisal Review panel that meet more infrequently as required.
Other panels may be formed as and when required
There are a number of nominated governors responsible for particular aspects of the school: these all report into the appropriate committee.
